Evan Pierce – Guatemalan Water Project

UPDATE: We’ve raise enough to send Evan!!! YAH!!

About Me:

My name is Evan Pierce and I am a high school senior preparing for college. I live in Taos, New Mexico, working as a ski instructor at Taos Ski Valley in the winter and as a raft guide in the summer with Los Rios River Runners. I will soon be starting an internship at a real estate company to expand my skills in videography. My hobbies including skiing, biking, whitewater rafting, videography, and travelling.

In college, I plan on majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Business at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Technology has always been a passion of mine, which is why I want to make a career out of it.

The Project:

In 3 weeks (April 11th) I will be travelling to Guatemala for humanitarian aid in the form of basic medical needs and water pipelines. Poverty with the local Mayan population is rampant because medical care and water is scarce, leading to a high mortality rate in many remote regions. The project itself is funded by rotary clubs of New Mexico and United by Friendship.

I plan to record footage of my experience and interview locals on how our help has impacted their lives. I will compile my resources and create a short documentary describing my experience and the importance of the work in the region.

Why I Need You:

Each year a team from New Mexico travels to Guatemala to continue old projects and start new ones. This would be my first year on the team, but I expect to attend it for years to come – if given the opportunity. Plane tickets and travel expenses make the project hard to attend with little financial backing. College is a massive expense which leaves little funds leftover for other life opportunities, which is why I need you to donate to my cause to volunteer in Guatemala.

Help me help those in need – give what you can. This is the opportunity of a lifetime, one which I hope to take advantage of. Thank you in advance for your help!

The deadline is April 11th, lets make it happen!
